LGBTQ+ affirming counseling for religious deconstruction, faith transitions & exvangelicals in Phoenix, Arizona

My name is Janae Andrew. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor, Phoenix native, cardigan connoisseur and genderfluid person working with (mostly) Queer, LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent folx (and allies!) who are trying to make sense of a world that often feels like it wasn’t built for us.

People who see me for counseling often are:

  • Trans men and women

  • Lesbians and gay men

  • Genderfluid, nonbinary or gender-questioning folx

  • Adults with ADHD and/or autism spectrum

  • Formerly “gifted”-identified kids

Who are doubting, leaving, or have already left high-control religion

Or are questioning the systems of oppression that got us here

And are ready to deep dive into old narratives (beliefs) that keep us stuck, find authenticity, align with their own core values and find ways to thrive.

You can find life after religion

You’re scared - ashamed - hiding - questioning. At the very least you’re shrinking your authentic Self - in service to old stories that no longer fit. And probably fucking exhausted.

I can help you step off the shame treadmill. (Re)claim your gender and sexuality. Recover from purity culture. Find your people, reconnect with Self and show up authentically and embodied.

I provide:

Deconstructing & faith transitions can look and feel like…

  • Nothing makes sense anymore

  • You no longer feel like you fit anywhere

  • You don’t know who you are anymore, or…

  • Everyone around you has changed over the past few years - and you don’t know who the hell they are anymore

  • Guilt, shame and needing to hide parts of your life

  • Feeling depressed, anxious, or afraid - or maybe just numb

  • Muscle tension, abdominal pain, digestive problems, insomnia and brain fog

“Finding yourself” is actually returning to yourself. An unlearning, an excavation, a remembering who you were before the world got its hands on you.”
