I’m Janae Andrew, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Phoenix, AZ. I provide secular, affirming and values-aligned Narrative therapy, inner child work, art group therapy and art-based community support groups in Phoenix, Arizona for neurodivergent, LGBTQ+ and other marginalized folx recovering from religious trauma and oppressive systems. What a session can look like

I work with (mostly Queer) folx recovering from religious trauma and other oppressive systems because I’ve been there myself - and I can tell you that there is a way out. 

  • First, we’ll assess the things bringing you into counseling and where you’re feeling stuck. We will work together at a pace that feels safe for you as we find the roots of those stuck points. This shit ain’t easy!

  • Then we look at how those roots are showing up in your daily life. We’ll work on defining your Self and aligning with your core values, reconnecting with your younger parts, building capacity and curiosity to feel all the feelings, and regulating your nervous system.  Self-compassion is at the heart of everything we do.

  • We work on things like gender identity, sexual identity, sexual shame, coming out, transitioning, strained family relationships, deconstructing beliefs (hello, purity culture), questioning religion, making a plan to exit a high-control religion or a cult, and learning how to thrive instead of just survive, especially in this bananas political climate.

  • Bottom line: I can help you reconnect with your Self and find new ways to live authentically. My passion is digging deep, finding the roots and helping you thrive. There is another side to this pain - I want to help you walk the bridge to get there.
